Winter Backlog may last until June- Montreal
Shippers in Montreal are feeling the lingering effects of winter, transportation bottlenecks are continuing to plague the area. Lack of available rail cars, low driver capacity, and weight restrictions have created a costly situation for shippers and an early Christmas for trucking companies. As the number of available shipments continue to grow in Quebec finding back hauls from areas in the US and Ontario has become increasingly difficult, making capacity issues worse as time goes on.
Below is the Ministry of Transportation’s guideline for Thaw Restrictions 2014:
The ministère des Transports du Québec reminds heavy vehicle users and shippers that, as each year, authorized load limits are reduced during the spring thaw period in order to take into account the weaker load bearing capacity of the road network during that period. For the 2014 spring thaw period, the load restriction periods in each of the thaw zones are as follows:
Dates 2014
The starting and ending dates of the load restriction period may be adjusted depending on weather conditions. The boundaries of the thaw zones are the same as last year. 2014Detailed map (6 MB) |
