Trade Shift: Is North America about to Lose Out?
Looking back on global trade 5 years ago, it was most likely visible to those analysing market changes that China would soon be a large player in the International markets, both importing and exporting more material than any other. That is not likely a shocking sentiment as we are constantly reminded of the sheer volume of consumers and producers that China is responsible for. As global trade has undoubtedly increased drastically due to technology, is North America about to be pushed into the shadows when it comes to selection of international trading partners?
Many recent articles pointing to a decline in both the import and export power of the US have thoughts of a strong shift away from North American supply and demand, during a time when there is a large push for transportation infrastructure and development. But roadways themselves have not been the only topic of debate, airway regulation has been a hot topic for months, as well as the recent changes to Railway legislation, we are seeing that the ability to reach customers and increase supply chain functions is a priority in a dwindling market place. Have we lost a competitive advantage to such a large contender, and in hopes of streamlining our domestic markets missed the message?
