FMCSA Updates Hours of Service for Livestock Haulers
Last week the FMCSA updated the rest break provision, including a waiver for those hauling livestock. The reason for the waiver is that the extreme summer heat could very well be detrimental to the livestock’s well being, and stopping for 30 minutes at times is just not an option. This is not the only exception to the 30 minute mandatory break rule imposed by the FMCSA on the first of July, and it seems that other groups and specialty haulers will be challenging the regulation as the effects are being analysed industry wide.
