Digital Mirror Gets FMCSA Exemption

The option to install a digital mirror system for motor carriers has been granted an exemption by the FMCSA.  Their decision published last Thursday shows the exemption valid for 5 years.  The agency feels that this exemption will help to maintain if not increase safety. A digital mirror system consists of several cameras installed externally on the cab with the images displayed inside.  Removal of the existing external 2 rear-vision mirrors alone will eliminate blind spots for the driver.  …read more
