Canada US Border Plan
Recently Canada and US officials have announced a joint plan to invest in border infrastructure between the neighboring countries. The joint plan known as Canada-United States Border Infrastructure Investment Plan (BIIP), is a co-operation set to improve travel and trade between Canada and the US. Canada’s Minister of public safety has commented, ” These investments will reduce border delays, expedite trade across our shared border, and allow the Canada Border Services Agency to focus on facilitating the flow of low-risk people and goods while keeping the border open to legitimate trade and travel.”
This is on the heals of a recent announcement of approved Federal funding to overhaul the Lacolle QC, Champlain NY border crossing. Funding was approved for $47 million in infrastructure at the crossing by the Canadian government.
